Cowan and Bond Election Update

As of the printing of this newsletter, the Cowan Elementary repairs and renovations had been removed from the bond package that is currently being considered for the November ballot. The Cowan project is going to address repairs to systems (roof, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) that are now beginning to fail mostly due to age as the school approaches a 20 years. The renovation/expansion is one part of a large over-crowding problem that the district is dealing with in the entire southern part of Austin. Final up and down vote for the ballot initiative is on Monday, June 19 and we implore parents and community members to reach out to the entire board at trustees@austinisd.org to plead for inclusion in the bond package.

Neighborhood Pools

Dittmar, Garrison and Dick Nichols are now on extended summer hours through August 19. Take advantage of affordable swim lessons (for kids and adults), swim team, and swimming to cool off now that the summer heat has set in. You can check pool hours and fees here: http://www.austintexas.gov/pools
